Max & Ruby
Stages of Discovery
Thursday March 20, 2008 10am & 12pm
This delightful musical is based on the top-rated Nickelodeon television show inspired by Rosemary Wells' bunny siblings, Max and Ruby! Seven-year old Ruby loves her Grandma very much and wants to do something special for her. She gets the idea to put on a show, with music and costumes and a castle and everything! She'll need some help, though, so she tries to enlist her little brother Max. Ruby wants to put on a play about a princess, but Max is already playing a cowboy. Ruby wants to work quietly, but Max is enjoying his noisy toys. Ruby wants to look for costumes, but Max is too busy looking for frogs! Clearly, Max is no help at all, so Ruby recruits her Bunny Scout friends for assistance. But can the help her finish Grandma's play in time?

Madeline and the Bad Hat
Stages of Discovery
Wednesday May 14, 2008 10am & 12:30pm
ArtsPower's Madeline and the Bad Hat is an original musical based upon the much-loved book series by Ludwig Bemelmans's. It traces the adventures of a young Parisian girl who - despite starting off on the wrong foot with a mischievous new neighbor - eventually learns that first impressions aren't everything.

The Spanish Ambassador moves into the house next door, Madeline and Miss Clavel and the other girls quickly discover that his son Pepito is a true horror! Rude and conceited, Pepito seems at first to be nothing but trouble. But when he unexpectedly finds himself in real danger, it's up to the resourceful Madeline to get him out of it. Can she teach Pepito a lesson; does he have a good side after all?

Stages of Discovery
Tuesday, May 13, 2008 10am & 12:30pm
The inspiration for the dances comes from nature, Chinese classical literature and history, and folk legend. The original choreography is drawn from the styles of Chinese classical, folk, ballet and modern dance. Chinese traditional music is characterized by rich tonality and emotion, and is connected to language and poetry. Each dance is complemented by a short film depicting the cultural and artistic background of the dance, and information about Chinese traditional and ethnic culture.
